So you want a band for your special event? We have a number of bands of varying sizes, formats and styles that you can choose from:-

The Blue Note Band
This group has been operating in the home counties since 1985.  The format is the classic bebop line-up of tenor, trumpet and rhythm playing the music of Horace Silver, Benny Golson, Miles Davis, Oliver Nelson, and many other great composers from the Blue Note era in jazz.  The members of the band include Leon Calvert (trumpet/flugel); Brian Benton (tenor sax), Russ Williams (piano), Tomas Pedersen (bass), John Scotney  

West Coast Jazz
A small band with a huge sound, playing music arranged by the great West Coast arrangers including Bill Holman, Marty Paich, Shorty Rogers and Bob Florence.  It is a seven piece combination including Leon Calvert (trumpet/flugel); Brian Benton (tenor sax), Geoff Baxter (trombone),  Russ Williams (piano), Tomas Pedersen (bass), John Scotney (drums)

The Hammond Set
A great small band built around organist Russ Williams remarkable ability on the Hammond Organ.  The repertoire includes well known standards and jazz themes played with an exciting, hard swinging edge by Colin Watling (tenor sax), Nick Page (guitar), and John Scotney (drums).

The Jazz Six
A well arranged six piece band with three horns Leon Calvert on trumpet/flugel horn, Brian Benton on tenor saxophone and Geoff Baxter or David Keech on trombone.  The musical policy ranges from Miles Davis to Al Cohn with plenty of space for solos The rhythm section includes  Russ Williams (piano), Thomas Pedersen (bass), John Scotney (drums).

Big Bands
For that very special grand event we have two of the best big bands in Hertfordshire that you can choose from - either the Mid-Herts Jazz Orchestra, more a concert orchestra, or the Page 3 Big Band who can provide music for any occasion, from Glenn Miller to Buddy Rich, for dancing or listening. Although each band is over sixteen strong the fee is reasonable and negotiable.

Using the fabulous musicians available to us we can build a band to suit your requirements.  We have supplied duos, trios, quartets, quintets  playing modern and mainstream jazz for many varied events including restaurants, festivals, weddings, theatres, business events etc.
